Start of Steriods

Baseball went on strike during the 94 season due to a disagreement on money issues between the owners and the players association. The owners wanted to enact a salary cap which limits the amount of money a team is allowed to pay for the players in one season. The reason they gave was they didn’t want smaller market teams to fall by the wayside. The players association argued against it. The Players Association was already distrustful of the Owners because of collusion that the owners and baseball committed to keep prices down by not awarding high contracts to free agents. On august 12 1994 the players went on strike. The strike lasted an entire season and resulted in the World Series not being played.

When the strike finally ended attendance was at all time lows. On most teams opening days fans booed the teams for their poor play. Baseball was losing a lot of money due to the lack of interest from fans being disgruntled that the league couldn’t work out its differences without costing them a whole season and a World Series. As a result of this many people believe that baseball was willing to turn a blind eye to the steroid use that was going on in baseball. Steroids were believed to fuel the great race for 62 home runs during the 1998 season. The race between Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire drew in large rating and brought many fans back into watching baseball. This was the height of the Steroids era in baseball.

I like how you found away to bring steriods into the last paragraph. I think steriods wouldn't have been such a major thing if Jose Consaco would have never nitched.
There has always been little things thats been missed by the league and umpiers. They have changed the from Consaco. Why no pics of the strike?

Steroids pose an unfair advantage for players that use them. They help athletes get stronger, run faster, and pitch stronger. A well known athlete Evander Holyfield said "Well, when I think of steroids I think of an image. You have the advantage over someone, which is a form of cheating. I guess it wouldn't be right unless it was legal for everybody. Reason it's not legal for everybody is because it can hurt people seriously (Brainy Quote)." With steroids, players have broken records that people thought would never be broken. Barry Bonds broke the home run record for most home runs in a season. Baseball columnists say "that the record should not count because Bonds broke it using steroids". As a young kid growing up playing baseball, I used to look up to Barry Bonds. I got his jersey, collected all his baseball cards, and tried to watch all his games. Ever since steroids popped up surrounding him, I don't like him anymore. I cannot look up to someone that uses steroids. I also cannot look up to someone who in my opinion cheated to get here he is at. He has lost a lot of fans because of the steroids case surrounding him.

Steroids have been around in sports for a long time. It wasn't until 2004 that steroids have become such a big problem. Steroids are killing the integrity of the game. A lot of the big time players in Major League Baseball that own records have been able to achieve those records because of the use of steroids, and that's not right. There have been a lot of athletes that kids look up to that have accomplished their goals by not using steroids. Those are the athletes that we should be hearing about in the news, not the ones that cheat. Steroids give an unfair advantage to the people who use them. It makes them run faster, jump higher, and pitch faster. The most important thing about using steroids is the fact that it destroys your body. Not only are steroids dangerous but the injection of steroids is just as dangerous. As the saying goes "cheaters never win," and with the new restrictions they won't.
